Receiver Catch and Quick Tuck

Drill Objective:

This wide receiver football drill will focus on improving the receiver's concentration of catching the ball and getting the ball in front of their body to protect the ball and get the ball into the proper tuck position.

Drill Setup:

Pair up four Quarterback's with four receiver's and have them face each other about 10 yards apart.

Drill Instructions:

The coach will shout one of the commands below and the qb's and receivers must quickly react to the command and perform that action. These commands are:
  1. ALERT - which alerts the Quarterback to get ready to throw the ball.
  2. GO - which alerts the Quarterback to throw the ball to the receiver.
  3. RETURN - which alerts the Receiver to throw the ball back to the Quarterback.
Note: This wide receiver drill is like the Receiver Hand-Eye Coordination and Tuck Drill except it is intended to be ran much faster.

Drill Coaching Points:

It is important for the coach to make sure the receiver catches the ball out in front of their body and holds the ball there checking their hand position with their eyes. Also instruct the receiver to follow the ball into the tuck position with his head and eyes.
